Holiday Inn Dubai - Al Barsha (HIAB) opened its doors in 2008 as an owner managed franchised hotel with a tag line 'The 4Star hotel with a 5Star look' enhanced by the quality and diversity in the different facilities the hotel has to offer. 

The hotel is operated by Splendid Commercial Investment LLC under the license from IHG Hotels Ltd. Splendid Hotel Group and provides best hotel accommodation in selected locations in and around London, Dar-es-Salam & Dubai. HIAB is a 310 room 4* Deluxe Hotel located on a prime thoroughfare, Sheikh Zayed Road, in the heart of Dubai, in the locality of Al Barsha competing against hospitality establishments in the neighbourhood against an inventory of 10,000 rooms. Competition is certainly high! Our road to success to sustain market positioning has been by maintaining quality and services standards. HIAB, besides its small inventory of rooms, boasts 9 Food & Beverage outlets. some of which are award winning , employing  around 300 colleagues from over 30 nationalities and is a hub of dissimilar cultures, but prides itself in the superlative service it provides where safety of our stakeholders is super most to uphold its vision and be the ’The Best 4star Hotel in Dubai’’Our competitive advantage besides being situated on the main Sheikh Zayed Road, in the vicinity of Mall of Emirates and walking distance to the metro, has been the introduction of integral strategies for enhancing a Triple P Bottom - People, Planet & Profit, as compared to just Profit. To enhance the 3 P’s, we intentionally:      

* Run a responsible business supporting United Nation Global Compact's Sustainability Goals.     

* Remove our myopic lens to further external avenues.  

* Assess leadership style so the company is run not in departmental silos but uniformly throughout.     

* Think out of the box and look for avenues to save the planet by conducting assessment of impacts, risks and opportunities HIAB is recognised as an official partner with United Nation World Food (UNWFP) since Dec 2013 and with efforts and endeavours of the staff the hotel has managed to raise funds to feed over 400,000 hungry children in the world.

Further, by introducing “Green Engage”, an online system designed to help hotels monitor, reduce and manage energy, water, waste consumption and carbon HIAB is a proud participator to the green cause. Last year the hotel's concerted efforts enabled a saving of 7.08% on energy costs, 7.64 % on water usage and showed a reduction in carbon footprint by 7.07%. The fruits of this labour were recognised by Dubai Green Tourism  awarding HIAB 'The Best waste Management Hotel" by virtue of  Best Waste Management Practices in the  4 Star Category Dubai Green Tourism Awards. HIAB is a member of United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) aligning business practices with 12 of their 17 sustainability goals in helping to transform the world. Conducting a SWOT analysis against our competitors, we learnt that whilst we have to give a relevant and differentiating message to the end consumer, we had to change our operating philosophy to be fluid, to be one of constant innovation and improvement. Accordingly, we made innovative amendments to traditional hospitality norms as listed below:

•We separated responsibility from Director of Sales & Marketing to have two directors - one each for Marketing  and Sales

•We decided to work on one-style Leadership practice throughout

•We learnt to empower teams rather than talking down to them

•We introduced Social responsibility right throughout the company, top down so each member learnt to worry about the Triple P bottom line - People, Planet & Profit

•We improved our definition of Corporate Social Responsibility from being insular to Sustainability to be more encompassing  

• We abide to strict policies on principles of Human Rights, Labour, Environment and Anti-Corruption
